On Saturday night, twinning participants from St. Clare’s and Carr’s Glen primary schools enjoyed a fun-filled night at the Odyssey Arena cheering on the Belfast Giants ice hockey team. The Giants generously invited PPI-NI to attend their first playoff game against the Dundee Stars (Scotland) and were victorious with a final score of 5-0. The Belfast Giants organization prides itself on its diverse fan base and lives by the slogan: ‘In the land of the Giants, everyone is equal.’ That being said, it was particularly fitting that the PPI-NI participants came together to cheer on the home team.
While these P7 students have worked together for two years, Saturday night represented the first time the kids came together outside of a PeacePlayers programme. Collective shouts of ‘Let’s Go Giants’, with foam fingers waving in the air, made for a night high-fives and laughter amongst friends. Many thanks to the Belfast Giants, and best of luck this weekend at the playoff championship!
